Abstract

Problem and Aim. The article actualizes the problem of formation of media literacy and media competence of pedagogical universities’ students. Only practice-oriented training can form a high level of competence of modern media education. The system of Russian higher education assumes such an approach to teaching bachelor degree students and undergraduates during practice and the creation of real media educational projects that are counted as tests or exams. Urban media education projects can be an effective laboratory for the formation of media literacy and media competence of students. The purpose of the article is to identify tools for the formation of media literacy and media competence of pedagogical universities’ students, who are participants in the urban media education projects. Methodology. The study is based on the use of the method of included observation, modeling (creation of media educational projects), system analysis and in-depth interviews with different types of participants of the multi-format media educational project “Media Environment”. The results of the application of qualitative research methods allowed us to identify the features of the formation of social competencies of undergraduate and graduate students in the conditions of coworking, networking and colerning. In conclusion, it is concluded that multi-format urban media education projects included in the process of training journalists and media educators allow students to form competencies in several areas of modern media education at once. There are media, pedagogical, career guidance, research directions.
