Abstract

In the present work the authors report new investigations on the fundamentals of pulsed laser interactions with glassy ferromagnets by considering laser sources with longer wavelengths and pulse widths. The formation mechanism of iron-oxide precipitates on the irradiated surfaces and the coexistence of oxidation effects with amorphous-to-crystalline transformations in iron-based glassy ferromagnets is studied as a function of laser processing parameters.
