Abstract

AbstractThe electrical resistivity (ϱ) and magnetic susceptibility (χ) of CrMn alloys containing 2, 8, 10, 13, and 16 at% Mn are studied as a function of temperature (T). Both the ϱ−T and χ−T curves exhibit characteristic anomalies at the Néel temperature (TN). Careful analyses of the χ data by several methods all suggests the existence of a magnetic moment on the Mn impurities below and above TN. These results are discussed briefly from the standpoint of previous investigations and compared with the behavior exhibited by Fe and Co impurity moments in the Cr matrix.
