Abstract

The mechanism of formation of light-induced amplitude gratings in a rigid solution of eosin K in gelatin was studied. Spatial modulation of the absorption coefficient of the recording medium was caused by conversion of the dye to the colorless form as a result of photosensitized proton transfer from the gelatin to eosin.
