Formation of doubly charged negative ions in the gas phase by collisionally-induced “ion pair” formation from singly charged negative ions

Abstract

It is shown that doubly charged α,ω-alkane dicarboxylate negative ions can be formed in the gas phase by collisionally-induced “ion pair” formation from singly charged carboxylate negative ions, generated from aliphatic α,ω-dicarboxylic esters, if the carboxylate groups are separated by more than two carbon atoms.
