Abstract

Abstract A technique for growth of layered silver nano-crystallites and C 60 by vapor co-deposition is reported. It is found that the epitaxial relationship and growth morphology of Ag films on NaCl substrate were significantly affected by co-deposition of small amounts of C 60 . The temperature of the source of C 60 was 350 °C, and a layer of Ag nano-crystallites all with (110) orientation was grown on a hot (001) NaCl substrate. Moreover, co-deposition of C 60 prevented coalescence of Ag nano-particles into large grains. Thus, granular films were obtained with high density of oriented Ag nano-crystallites with a narrow size distribution.
