Abstract
Formation constants for the interaction of citrate ion with calcium and magnesium ions in solution at 37°C and a constant ionic strength of 0.15 were determined by potentiometric titration. Values for the formation of CaL − and CaHL 0 complexes were 1.88 × 10 3 and 67, respectively. Corresponding constants for MgL − and MgHL 0 were 2.19 × 10 3 and 42, respectively. The existence of other complexes was not confirmed. Protonation constants were also determined under the same conditions.
