Abstract

A new graphite intercalation compound containing FeCl 3 and CHCl 3 was formed, different in intercalate layer structure from a ternary GIC formed in the beginning of the reaction and also from the binary FeCl 3-GIC. The thermal behavior observed by thermogravimetry and exfoliation suggested the different states of CHCl 3 in the compound.
