Abstract

Spherical crystalline silver particles produced by ion-exchange and following annealing process in a soda-lime glass are deformed by stretching the glass. Results concerning the size dependence of particle deformation are presented. Optical spectra as well as electron microscopical results are given for a wide range of particle sizes (10 nm-100 nm) within one sample, i.e. for a constant glass deformation.
