Abstract

A reaction between Mn 2 (CO) 10 and 2 equiv of (η 5 -C 5 H 4 PPh 2 )(η 7 -C 7 H 6 PPh 2 )Ti (1) in refluxing toluene results in carbonyl group displacement, metal-metal bond cleavage, and hydrogen abstraction to form HMn(CO) 3 [(η 5 -C 5 H 4 PPh 2 )(η 7 -C 7 H 6 PPh 2 )Ti] (4) in 57% yield. The new chelated heterobimetallic compound 4 has been characterized by its 1 H NMR, 31 P NMR, IR, and mass spectra, as well as by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study
