Abstract

With the popularity of XML applications, XML becomes the mainstream and the de-facto standard of information exchange and coding format. Since object-oriented (OO) database has a stronger ability to store data, many commercial data are stored in object-oriented database and the applications of object-oriented database are more and more wide. Consequently, it is significant to exchange data from XML to object-oriented database. Meanwhile, there are a lot of spatiotemporal data in real applications, which should be transformed from XML to object-oriented database, by means of combining the characteristics of XML and object-oriented database. In this paper, we propose the methodologies of transforming spatiotemporal data from XML to object-oriented database. In particular, in order to describe spatiotemporal XML DTD, we study the object-oriented schema. Furthermore, we focus on mapping functions and rules for the transformation.
