Abstract

The IBM FORMAC language, a computer system for the symbolic manipulation of formulas and ex- pressions, is described and several applications to problems of celestial mechanics are outlined. These applications include the derivation of power-series solutions to the equations of motion, the generation and application of high-order time derivatives of arbitrary powers of the radius vector, and the extension of Cayley's tables.
