Abstract

The formability of soft aluminium, half-hard aluminium, and deep-drawing quality steel sheets was compared using the material parameters r, n, and m, and the forming-limit diagrams. Strain hardening in uniaxial and biaxial tension was found to be the the same, justifying the use of the uniaxial n valuefor the assessment of formability. The necking-limit strains of the soft aluminium and steel were quite similar, the inferior press behaviour of aluminium being a result of smaller r and m values
