Abstract

This paper reports the results of an investigation of the mechanical and formability properties of Hadfield steel at room temperature. The formability characterization was obtained by performing the usual tensile test, notched-tensile test, hydraulic bulge test and stretch-forming test. The Forming-limit diagram (FLD) for this steel was characterized. In an attempt to explain the effect of the deformation conditions on the strain-hardening mechanism, the microstructural relationships are investigated and the deformation characteristics are discussed.
