Abstract

SYNOPSIS This paper deals with a stem form study in Eucalyptus cloeziana. Sample tree data obtained from the ICFR were used to obtain the diameter at different relative positions along the stem. These diameters were subsequently regressed on breast height diameter and tree height. Fourth degree polynomials are recommended to estimate the u.b. diameter at i % of the height, for trees with a given breast height diameter and total height, although linear interpolation does not induce substantial inaccuracy. Regression models are introduced with the additional dummy-variables being used to account for the effect of site. They allow the description of stem profiles for the three site categories in this study.
