Abstract
Este capítulo trata la construcción de la Constitución mexicana de 1917. Describe el contexto histórico (político, económico y social) de donde surgió; explica la motivación del régimen carrancista en proponer una nueva constitución; y narra el proceso – rápido y apresurado - por el cual los constituyentes fueron electos. Analiza el perfil del Congreso, en términos de ocupación, clase social, edad y corriente ideológica y ofrece un breve resumen de los debates – las principales preocupaciones, las omisiones, y las referencias filosófico-históricas. Concluye con unas observaciones generales sobre las principales corrientes ideológicas – liberal, jacobina, y social-reformista – sugiriendo así como, en los años después de 1917, la nueva Carta Magna podría servir, de manera flexible, para legitimar políticas de distinta índole, conforme a las presiones y demandas de cada coyuntura.
