Abstract

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is an international, Asian region-focused higher education institute based in Thailand. This chapter will analyze AIT’s experience training IFP scholars of the Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program over the past decade. Since 2004, AIT enrolled groups of IFP scholars every year, from Thailand, Vietnam, China, and the Philippines, a total intake of 81 Fellows. This discussion will begin with introducing AIT and the characteristics of its IFP Fellows, especially those in the Gender and Development Studies program.1 It will then focus on three major impacts of their graduate education experience and further elaborate the argument with two case studies, one from China and the other from the Philippines.
