Abstract
Abstract Africa's share of the world's forest product industry is extremely small. This is true also for Central and West Africa, which in this respect are inferior to both North and South Africa. At the same time parts of the continent are very rich in forests, especially Central Africa that is one of the three big reserves of tropical rain forest of the earth, and partly coastal West Africa where, as a rule, the possibilities of regenerating forest also are good. These regions are thus an illustrative example of underdevelopment in the forestry sector. In this article an overall expansion of integrated forestry and forest-based industries in this part of Africa is judged to be both possible and desirable.
