The Design And Construction Of Swimming Pools Often Includes A Wide Range Of Participants. Residential Pools Are Typically Constructed By A Builder Connected To A Vendor, With Little Professional Design Involvement. Pools For Public, Commercial Or Institutional Use Are More Likely To Be Designed By A Licensed Engineer, But May Actually Use An Unlicensed Professional. Multimillion Dollar Aquatic Facilities Typically Involve A Design Team Of Licensed Professionals. Lack Of Effective Communication Between Team Members Can Result In Design Defects And Corresponding Construction Defects. Unprofessional And Unlicensed Designers Can Have Business Agendas That Directly Reduce Pool Design Quality. Lack Of Uniform Design Or Construction Standards Can Further Challenge Swimming Pool Project Success. The Following Discussion Provides A Few Examples Of Design And Construction Errors That Directly Contributed To Swimming Pool Defects.
