Abstract

Recently, China's foreign trade has entered into a stage of fast development. As an economic area with the largest population and the biggest market in the world, China has been considered as a major supplier for the world market. Its economy and culture are becoming an inseparable part of the world and its economic potential as well as its competition capability in the world economy, have enabled China, a peacefully developing country to grow into a big economic and trading country. The globalization of the world economy has already made China an inseparable part of this world, and the world more important to China. However, at present, we should say, China is still a developing country. The statistics of international trade volume does show that China ranks the third, however, if the technical contents, the additional value as well as the ability to control the world market are concerned, China's trade capability in world competition is still weak, it is still far from being a trade power. Trade globalization and production globalization have changed the frame of trade resources and profit distribution, which provide China's trade development a great chance. Whether we can grasp this opportunity depends on our competitiveness in the world. This competitiveness is mainly decided by the competitiveness of our Chinese enterprises and industries, i.e. the development of China's trade is determined by the competitiveness of Chinese enterprises. This essay, with the analysis of China's foreign trade state as the basis, discusses the major problems in China's foreign trade development, and comes to the conclusion that only when our enterprises become strong in technology competition instead of cost competition, can the competitiveness of our enterprises in the world market be strengthened and our foreign trade development a sustainable and healthy one. Relative strategies for our enterprises in this new economic situation are also provided in this article
