Abstract

Klimchuk and Sturrock discussed that "the generating function model does not represent a valid thought experiment", and the loss of equilibrium shown by the generating function method no longer exists, but the sequence exhibits a well behaved nature when it is defined in terms of the corresponding boundary condition problem. In the present paper, we discussed that the sequence obtained by the generating function method cannot be defined in terms of the corresponding boundary condition problem, as Klimchuk and Sturrock did. Thus, the generating function method cannot be ruled out and the force-free magnetic fields may have a loss of equilibrium.
