Abstract

The general dynamic slope-deflection method for circular curved members of constant section vibrating inextensionally is extended to forced vibrations of continuous arch frames. The dynamic slope-deflection equations which include the effect of dynamic load are first presented. The fixed-end moments and fixed-end thrusts appearing in these equations are then derived for a dynamic concentrated load acting at any section of a curved member. A three-span circular arch frame subjected to a dynamic load is given to illustrate the application of the proposed method and to show the effects of the frequency of applied load and the central angle of the arc on the joint moments of the frame.
