Abstract

A linearised surface wave motion is considered for a fluid of infinite extent and of infinite or finite constant depth in the presence of an impermeable plate and a porous wall immersed in the fluid parallel to each other. The motion is generated once by the plate and next by the wall. Analytical solutions are obtained for the velocity potentials of the motions, the hydrodynamic pressure distribution on the porous wall and the profile of the surface and the effects of porosity on these quantities are discussed. A scattering problem is investigated in conclusion.
