Abstract
We explored the influence of mixing (milling) conditions and sample mass on forced SHS compaction of equiatomic Ti–B blends. An increase in mill/ball ratio was found not only give start to mechanochemical synthesis but also affected the processes of combustion and product patterning. The mass of green compacts did not affect combustion temperature. Our results may turn interesting to those engaged in combustion synthesis of new materials.
