Abstract

This paper presents measurement and calibration of the established NCKU 10 cm/spl times/10 cm magnetic suspension wind tunnel. The proposed wind tunnel is constructed based on a magnetic suspension balance system (MSBS). A calibration fixture with wire-ball bearings was designed for the experiments. Current measurements representing exerting forces and moments on the test model are obtained from externally applied loads on each degree of freedom. From the results, using the measurement data, a basic wind tunnel test to obtain the exerting force and moment in each degree of freedom on the test model can be obtained directly. This practical magnetic suspension wind tunnel can be used for aerodynamic tests.
