Abstract
In southern Guinea Savanna (Nigeria)Megaponera foetens attacks foraging Macrotermitinae. Termites are located by single major workers — “scout ants”. Marking experiments confirmed that the scout ant also guided the columns of ants to the termites. Regional differences in foraging and recruitment in the species thoughout the African savannas are compared.
