Abstract

For Jane, Three Days After Her Brother's Passing Shannon Hardwick (bio) —After Jane Cooper Jane, your notebooks haunt us after the wake.We stand up. We sit down. But the burn is slow& you taught us grief can keep long after letting-go. Oblivion starts to stirin the first house built from a child'sscaffolding—your words & John's laughter. We are left imaginingthis autumn out of the pair of you, leavingbefore us in early darkness. You attend to the space, the radiance. It's time to go. But we call out, anyway, into the air, like a body between us, but lighter.
