Abstract
Billed as "the first all-Latino, full equity show produced in the San Fernando Valley," Sam Shepard's Fool for Love was recently staged by the East Los Angeles Classic Theatre in an old adult movie house that has been completely refurbished and transformed into a 471-seat proscenium theatre. Owned by the City of Los Angeles, the Madrid Theatre is part of Mayor Richard Riordan's commitment to cultural life in the San Fernando Valley. This demonstration of interest is particularly urgent because the "Valley" is threatening to break away from the City of Los Angeles in the near future.
