Abstract

Infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children cared for outside the home comprise one of the fastest growing child initiatives in the United States. Concerns are frequently raised about the quality of child care services provided to these children, particularly how well the health, social, and emotional well-being of young children are safeguarded. The safe handling of food in the context of developmentally and nutritionally appropriate feeding guidelines for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children are discussed.
