Abstract

An efficient traceability system throughout the entire food supply chain ensures production, supply, and distribution of safe and high-quality products, thereby reducing product recalls. Food industries have developed several food safety and quality management strategies to combat the growing safety issues in the food supply chain. The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system is a vital preventive approach for tackling food safety hazards that can be used at all the steps in the food supply chain. A traceability system within the Indian food supply chain is required to emphasize food quality and safety. An efficient traceability system in the entire food supply chain ensures production, supply, and distribution of safe and high-quality products, reducing the occurrences of product recalls. The food supply chain can be described as a series of activities that brings a product from the production site to the consumer’s plate.
