Abstract

Food protein-induced enterocolitis (FPIES) is a non–IgE-mediated food allergy that manifests as repetitive emesis, pallor, lethargy, and diarrhea onset 1 to 4 hours after the ingestion of a food.1 Since the implementation of guidelines advocating the early introduction of peanut, there has been an increase in publications about peanut FPIES (p-FPIES).2-4 Many have hypothesized that the early introduction may be the reason for FPIES to peanut in susceptible individuals. Although clinicians often see this in the clinic, there is much uncertainty regarding the characteristics and prognosis of p-FPIES.
