Abstract
The host factors that modulate hematopoietic reconstitution after bone marrow transplantation are poorly understood. In this issue of Cell Host & Microbe, Staffas etal. (2018) demonstrate that gut microbiota play a critical role in immune reconstitution after bone marrow transplantation, partly through dietary energy harvest and uptake.
