Abstract
As we have indicated in previous papers in this journal (Ewing, 1955, 1958, 1960, and 1962), the Tawsug, one of the Muslim groups included under the generic term Moros in the Philippines, inhabit the islands of the Sulu Archipelago stretching from Zamboanga, Mindanao, to the island of Borneo. As we have indicated in previous publications, the Tawsug essentially belong to the sub-culture area of the southern Philippines, however with enough differences to make them interesting. In this publication, we shall restrict ourselves to food and drink, first describing what is known about the Tawsug in this respect, and then furnishing comparative notes from other nearby peoples.
