Abstract

Two fountains with water staircases have been found in France. These objects belong to the domestic fittings of the Roman house. Owing to comparisons with similar pieces of the series, particularly in Rome and northern Italy (symetric staircases, putti pouring water, angle recesses), they are to be ascribed to the Antonine period.
