Abstract

This article examines the role of public government domain information and libraries in USA and Italy to provide guidance to citizens involved in making financial decisions (pension planning, credit cards, rate mortages etc...). As financial market become more complex and integrated, individuals and their family are facing day by day decisions that could influence their future in an irreversible way. Financial literacy education is considered necessary for people to avoid grievous financial errors. Financial information literacy allow citizens to distinguish between relevant information sources and poor ones. The actual and possible roles for public library in financial literacy education and financial information literacy education in USA and Italy are considered.
