Abstract

Automatic font generation is critical for office automation and the publishing industry. For the design of user font, the user can input a specified font to our system which will be described later. The system described can trace out the boundary of the input font, find out control points and their corresponding curvatures, and edit (including zooming) the font. This system is based on two points. The first is the least square error curve fitting for finding out the control points and computing their curvatures. The second point is beta-spline curve for quickly editing the shape of the input font where the tension parameter is tuned, so that the sharpness and smoothness can be well preserved when zooming. Experimental results indicate smooth performance of our system.
