Abstract
THE purpose of this paper is to discuss that part of the recent Mass Chest X-ray Survey in the city of Boston that was concerned with revealing cancer of the lung. It is believed that this is the first such survey in which special procedures carried out by special staff workers have been followed to detect cancer. The mass survey was initiated by Dr. John H. Cauley, commissioner of the Department of Health of the City of Boston, because of the high incidence of tuberculosis in the city.
