Abstract
ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to compare follicular fluid(FF) PGF2α and IL-1β levels according to the presence of oocyte retrieved.DesignProspective observational study.Materials and Methods148 FF samples were collected from infertile patients undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation for IVF-ET. Study subjects were divided into two groups according to the presence of oocyte: group with oocyte retrieved (group A, n = 100) vs. group without oocyte retrieved (group B, n = 48). FF from dominant follicles were obtained during oocyte retrieval and stored at -70 °. FF IL-1β and PGF2α levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and compared between the two groups, and statistically analyzed using non-parametric methods.ResultsTabled 1Clinical characteristics of study subjectsOocyte retrieved groupNon-oocyte retrieved groupPDuration of stimulation10.59 ± 2.4911.52 ± 3.790.333E2 on hCG day2323.57 ± 1896.262041.53 ± 1732.520.379Endometrial thickness11.32 ± 2.3410.85 ± 2.600.733Fertilization rate0.62 ± 0.220.49 ± 0.340.271Total retrieved oocytes9.67 ± 5.399.2 ± 7.520.402Total dose of gonadotropin2028.33 ± 1147.052804.48 ± 1113.830.009PGF 2α2045.60 ± 1526.61944.15 ± 781.330.013IL-1β1.74 ± 1.495.58 ± 5.890.230Datas are expressed as means ± S.D Open table in a new tab ConclusionThe dominant follicle from which an oocyte was not retrieved may have lower FF PGF2α levels.
