Abstract

Recently, much attention has focussed on the role of follicular dendritic cells as a reservoir of infectious particles in retroviral, particularly HIV, infection. In this report from a recent meeting ∗ ∗ The European Workshop of Follicular Dendritic Cells was held at the Manor House at the Forschungsinstitut Borstel on 21–22 October 1991, as a satellite meeting of the 22nd Annual Conference of the Gesellschaft für Immunologie and was organized by H-D. Fland and J. Gerdes in cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Zellbiologie. , Johannes Gerdes and Hans-Dieter Flad describe these studies in the context of a growing awareness of the morphological, phenotypic and functional heterogeneity of the cells.
