Abstract

Apart from the continued adherence to the original concept, however, the present state of the Danish folk high school movement is not what one would expect. The enrollment over the last 50 years has remained relatively constant; public interest appears to be on the wane; and the impetus for future domestic development of the folk high school seems to have been lost. Those who ought to know say that since the war folk high schools are only a shadow of their former selves.2
