Abstract

Mechanical single molecule methods have enabled us to observe the folding/unfolding dynamics of single molecules with exceptional spatial and temporal resolution. In this talk we will show that the online-observation of equilibrium folding and unfolding fluctuations of single molecules allows to obtain rich information about folding pathways and the underlying energy landscapes. We will discuss optical trapping experiments studying the unfolding of the GCN4 leucine zipper as well as Calmodulin.
