Abstract

The inelastic light scattering spectra of acoustic modes have been measured for a series of CdTe Cd 1−x Mn x Te superlattices with x = 0.1. Analysis of the Brillouin to folded acoustic mode intensities yields a photoelastic coupling coefficient ratio of P alloy P CdTe = 0.18 for excitation at 1.648 eV (752.5 nm). The results indicate that the superlattice photoelastic modulation contribution dominates that of the acoustic modulation in the Raman scattering mechanism.
