Abstract

Hollow Gaussian beam (HGB) is very useful mathematical model to describe dark hollow beam (DHB). In this article, the focusing properties of cylindrical vector hollow Gaussian beam are investigated theoretically by vector diffraction theory. Simulation results show that the optical intensity in focal region of HGB can be altered considerably by changing the polarization angle and the order of HGB. Higher order of the HGB may induce higher focal depth with shrinking transverse focal spot. The focal spot can evolve into a focal ring with increasing of polarization angle. Effect of the order of HGB weakens in low numerical aperture focusing system.
