Abstract

This paper presents a method to compute the two-dimensional point target spectrum for the arbitrary bistatic configuration, when transmitter and receiver move along nonparallel tracks with unequal velocities. The point target response is first modeled in the time domain and then transformed to the frequency domain. Based on the bistatic geometry and the method of stationary phase, an analytic expression for the bistatic point target spectrum is derived. Using the derived spectrum, focusing for general bistatic SAR configuration can be accomplished by matched filtering. Finally, the proposed approach is verified with a point target simulation.
