Abstract
Mathematical formulations are presented for TE-mode, three-dimensional, solitary electromagnetic pulses propagating in free space. The pulses are required to satisfy the homogeneous Maxwell's equations, have a three-dimensional pulse structure, have no charge, move at light velocity in straight lines, have nondispersive pulses for all time, and have finite electromagnetic energy.
