Abstract

An example is given of the use of short-period multimode computation in focal-mechanism studies. Several theoretical spectra are compared with the experimental data. Good qualitative agreement is obtained using strike-slip motion on a vertical fault plane, as indicated by body-wave results. The technique can be applied to the determination of intrinsic attenuation as well as focal mechanism.
