Abstract

Three cases of focal granulomatous colitis are presented. The initial lesion appeared to be the same in all 3 cases: a small tumor-like defect simulating a sessile mucosal or intramural extramucosal mass. Follow-up examinations showed a totally different course in each case: 1 case returned to normal, 1 developed classical segmental granulomatous colitis of a much greater extent than anticipated from the initial lesions, and the 3rd case led to an ulcerated stricture within a brief space of time.
