Abstract

Eleven cases of focal epithelial hyperplasia are reported in addition to those reported by Archard, Heck, and Stanley. 1 The total cases in these two reports number 40. All cases, with one possible exception (an Eskimo), have occurred in persons of American Indian ancestry. The disease occurs in North, Central, and South American Indians living under a variety of environmental conditions and in modern to primitive communities. All cases have been found in children less than 18 years of age.
