Abstract
We have been exploring the use of frequency modulated dye lasers as a source of broadband laser radiation which will provide a comb of modes for precision comparison of laser frequencies. An ideal FM laser output consists of a laser beam which is constant in amplitude but sinusoidally varying in frequency. This provides us with a source of many laser modes which are equally spaced by the frequency at which an intracavity phase modulator is driven.
