Abstract

Six catalytically relevant Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes involving N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) derived from substituted 1,8-naphthalimides and allylic ligands were synthesized and characterized. The structures and conformations of the complexes were elucidated on the basis of combination of dynamic NMR spectroscopy and DFT studies. Conformational studies in respect to hindered rotation around Pd-C (Pt-C) bonds were performed. The results from dynamic NMR studies and DFT calculations confirmed hindered rotation around Pd-C (Pt-C) bonds.
